Shilp Samagam Mela 2025 Inaugurated in Bengaluru Celebrating India’s Rich Heritage of Arts, Crafts, and Culture

Bengaluru, 5 September 2025 — The much-anticipated Shilp Samagam Mela 2025 was inaugurated today at Freedom Park, Bengaluru, marking a vibrant celebration of India’s extraordinary craftsmanship and cultural diversity. Organized by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in collaboration with TULIP, the mela will run from 5th to 14th September, offering visitors an immersive showcase of India’s artistic legacy and handicraft traditions.

Showcasing Artisans’ Mastery from Across India

This year’s edition features 75 artisan stalls displaying exquisite creations including intricate metalwork, wooden artifacts, cane and bamboo products, pottery, textiles, and handwoven treasures representing over 13 Indian states. The mela highlights the skills of artisans from marginalized communities including Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, and Safai Mitras, providing them a vital platform to engage with urban and international audiences.

 



 

 

Cultural Extravaganza and Community Engagement

Each evening, the mela transforms into a cultural festival with folk dances, traditional music, and storytelling performances reflecting India’s living heritage. These events enrich the experience by offering glimpses into the diverse cultural expressions thriving across the country.

National Leadership and Focus on Inclusive Growth

The mela was inaugurated by Dr. Virendra Kumar, Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, in the esteemed presence of Shri Ramdas Athawale, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri P.C. Mohan, MP Bengaluru Central, senior officials, artisans, and cultural representatives.
