New Delhi: Bridging tradition with technology, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs unveiled the Beta Version of “Adi Sanskriti” on 10th September 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, during the National Conference on Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan. The platform, launched by Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Shri Durgadas Uikey, heralds a new digital era for preserving tribal heritage, enabling livelihoods, and connecting tribal communities globally.
Overview of Adi Sanskriti
Adi Sanskriti is envisioned as the world’s first Digital Tribal University to preserve and promote the culture and traditional knowledge of tribal communities through three integrated pillars:

Adi Vishwavidyalaya (Digital Tribal Art Academy): Offering 45 immersive courses covering tribal dance, painting, crafts, music, and folklore that enable learning and teaching of tribal art forms.

Adi Sampada (Socio-Cultural Repository): Housing more than 5,000 curated documents across themes like paintings, dance, textiles, artefacts, and livelihood, serving as a rich repository of tribal cultural knowledge.

Adi Haat (Online Marketplace): Developed in collaboration with TRIFED, the marketplace connects tribal artisans directly with consumers to promote sustainable livelihoods and provide fair value for tribal crafts.
Collaboration with State Tribal Research Institutes
The platform was developed closely with State Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs) across 16 states, ensuring grassroots participation and authenticity of content. TRIs contributed extensively to documentation, digital mapping, and content curation, reflecting India’s tribal cultural diversity.
Voices from the Launch
Minister Shri Durgadas Uikey emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to uplifting Scheduled Tribes by preserving their heritage through technology. He recalled earlier launches such as “Adi Vaani,” an AI-based tribal language translator, expressing hope for its growing impact. Shri Uikey described Adi Sanskriti as a holistic platform to preserve and share tribal wisdom, culture, and virasat, fostering empowerment.
Joint Secretary Shri Anant Prakash Pandey highlighted Adi Sanskriti’s role in advancing cultural preservation and tribal empowerment as part of the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision. He encouraged public engagement with the portal and ongoing enrichment through feedback.
Future Vision and Expansion
Adi Sanskriti will expand in phases to include more courses, digital content, and an enhanced marketplace. The ultimate goal is to develop a Tribal Digital University offering certification, research, and transformative learning opportunities. This initiative integrates cultural preservation with education and economic empowerment, making tribal heritage accessible and beneficial to a broad audience while supporting sustainable livelihoods.
