Minority Welfare Ministers; Strong Emphasizes on Promotion of Swadeshi and ‘Made in India’: September 2025

New Delhi: The Ministry of Minority Affairs hosted a National Level Conclave of Hon’ble Ministers of States and Union Territories for Minority Welfare at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, on September 13, 2025. The conclave was presided over by Hon’ble Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju, in the presence of Minister of State Shri George Kurian and Secretary Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar. Ministers from eight states participated, sharing insights to enhance minority welfare schemes nationwide.

Focus on Policy Reforms and Minority Welfare Schemes

The conclave centered on reforms across legislative, policy, institutional, and process frameworks under the Integrated Government of India Ministry (IGoM) to improve ease of living, boost economic growth, create employment, enhance competitiveness, and build a reform-oriented ecosystem for minority communities.

Shri Kiren Rijiju reiterated the government’s commitment to expedite policy reforms, especially for minority youth, women, and all communities. Minister of State Shri George Kurian urged stakeholders to embrace the “Reform, Perform, Transform and Inform” mantra for efficient service delivery and sustainable development, highlighting schemes like Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan (PM VIKAS) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK).



State Ministers’ Contributions and Initiatives

The participating state ministers shared their experiences and challenges:

  • Shri Imkongmar (Nagaland) highlighted implementation obstacles and strategies for enhancing welfare programs.

  • Shri Nityananda Gond (Odisha) noted notable benefits extended to minority communities.

  • Shri S.M. Nasar (Tamil Nadu) requested additional educational and social support measures.

  • Shri Sukla Charan Noatia (Tripura) underscored financial assistance to minority youths pursuing professional courses to foster self-reliance.

  • Shri Adv. Manilkrao Kokate (Maharashtra) committed to executing welfare schemes and suggested improvements.

  • Shri Md. Zama Khan (Bihar) detailed project sanctions and implementation suggestions.

  • Shri Om Prakash Rajbhar (Uttar Pradesh) emphasized the growth and inclusive development made possible through the Ministry’s schemes.

Roadmap and Vision Forward

The Ministry presented a five-year roadmap for minority upliftment, incorporating suggestions from state representatives to refine policies and outreach. Shri Kiren Rijiju urged artisans attending the Lok Samvardhan Parv to promote ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Made in India’ initiatives to strengthen the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.

Conclusion

The conclave reinforced the Government of India’s dedication to minority empowerment through reforms, inclusive growth, and culturally attuned policies. Collaborative efforts between the Centre and states aim to build stronger, equitable institutional frameworks enhancing the welfare of minority communities across the nation.
