New Delhi: The two-day ‘National Conference on Agriculture – Rabi Campaign 2025’ concluded in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare & Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Agriculture Ministers and senior officials from various States participated in the conference and held in-depth deliberations across multiple sessions on strategies to advance agricultural development.
Focus on Quality Inputs and Farmer Protection
In his concluding remarks, Shri Chouhan categorically stated that the sale of spurious or substandard fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides would not be permitted under any circumstances. He further informed that stringent laws are being prepared to deal with those engaged in such malpractices. Emphasising the responsibility of governments to protect farmers from such exploitation, he sought active cooperation from all States in this endeavour.
Strengthening Support Systems
The Union Minister highlighted ongoing efforts to make Kisan Call Centres more effective, and emphasized the need for robust mechanisms at the State level to ensure their impact. He reiterated that the Government is committed to delivering full justice to farmers through timely redressal of their grievances, affirming that farmers’ interests remain paramount for the Government. He also urged States to intensify efforts to expand the coverage of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) so that more farmers may benefit from the scheme.
Agricultural Extension and Rabi Preparation
Shri Chouhan also emphasised the importance of strengthening Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and State agricultural extension systems across the country, terming them vital for disseminating knowledge and advancing modern agricultural practices. The Minister called upon States and Agriculture Ministers to extend their full support to the upcoming Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, commencing from 3rd October 2025, which he described as a critical initiative for realising the “Lab to Land” vision.

Acknowledging the intensive deliberations held over the two days, Shri Chouhan congratulated the State Agriculture Ministers and officials for their valuable contributions and expressed confidence that the outcomes would lead to significant gains in the forthcoming Rabi season. He also conveyed gratitude, on behalf of all participants, to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of farmers. The Minister urged stakeholders to ensure the benefits of the historic GST reforms reach villages across the country, and appealed to all to adopt Swadeshi in line with the call of the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
