New Delhi: The Ministry of Ayush hosted the Curtain Raiser event for Ayurveda Day 2025 on September 19, 2025, at the National Media Centre (NMC), New Delhi. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, addressed the media, detailing key initiatives planned for the 10th Ayurveda Day celebration scheduled for September 23, 2025, at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa.

Theme and Significance of Ayurveda Day 2025

Shri Jadhav highlighted Ayurveda’s position as a holistic, evidence-based, and environmentally sustainable healthcare system. He reinforced Ayurveda as not just a medical science but a lifestyle harmonizing individuals with their environment. Citing the first-ever all-India NSSO survey on Ayush, the Minister noted Ayurveda’s widespread prevalence across both rural and urban India as the most commonly practiced medical system.

The Government of India has formalized September 23 as an annual fixed date for Ayurveda Day, giving it a universal calendar identity. The 2025 theme, “Ayurveda for People & Planet,” echoes India’s commitment to promoting Ayurveda as a sustainable, integrative healthcare solution benefiting both human health and the environment.

Planned Initiatives and Awareness Campaigns

The Minister announced a robust lineup of people-centric campaigns by the Ministry of Ayush to commemorate Ayurveda Day. Key initiatives include:

  • “Little Steps to Wellness” targeting student awareness.

Milestones include the inauguration of AIIA Phase II, establishment of four Centres of Excellence, and launch of the “Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan” by the Prime Minister. There has been an investment infusion totaling ₹12,850 crore, strengthening Ayurveda’s role in holistic healthcare systems.

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Prajapati, Director of AIIA, outlined plans for the 10th Ayurveda Day, which features wide-ranging awareness programs, digital campaigns, inter-ministerial collaborations, and the presentation of National Dhanvantari Ayurveda Awards 2025. The event will highlight sub-themes such as obesity prevention, cancer awareness, student engagement, and digital healthcare integration.
