Global Food Regulators Summit 2025 Concludes in New Delhi with a Call for Stronger International Collaboration and Inclusive Food Safety Frameworks

New Delhi: The two-day Global Food Regulators Summit (GFRS) 2025, hosted by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, successfully concluded at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, with valedictory remarks by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Shri Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav.

Summit Highlights and Theme

The summit provided an engaging platform for regulators, policymakers, industry leaders, and food safety experts from over 70 countries to engage in policy dialogue, knowledge sharing, and fostering international cooperation to address critical food safety challenges. The theme, “Yatha Annam Tatha Manah” (“As is the food, so is the mind”), emphasized the intrinsic link between food quality and overall mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.



Ministerial Insights

Shri Prataprao Jadhav highlighted the role of food as the foundation for conscious living and the transformative potential of scientific research and innovation in advancing global food safety and public health. He praised FSSAI’s grassroots capacity-building initiatives, including training over three lakh street food vendors and the Eat Right India programme that successfully aligns traditional food practices with modern safety standards.

Sessions and Discussions

The summit featured:

  • Workshops on digital surveillance and risk management.

  • Capacity-building sessions empowering regulators with next-generation skills.

  • Public-private engagement strategies for driving food safety.

  • Nutritional programs addressing obesity through awareness on fitness and healthy eating.

Parallel sessions included a CEO Conclave on Responsible Food Systems, an Ambassadors’ Conclave on international regulation cooperation, and a Roundtable Dialogue with MSMEs and startups to bolster food safety culture.

Global Cooperation and Future Directions

Dr. V.K. Paul, Member, NITI Aayog, stressed harmonizing global regulations for bio-manufactured foods and promoting traditional foods under Ayurvedic frameworks for safe global integration. Shri Rajit Punhani, FSSAI CEO, expressed gratitude to delegates emphasizing collaborative efforts to build resilient, transparent, and future-ready food systems.
