New Delhi : India’s domestic air travel sector is on the verge of a massive expansion, with passenger traffic expected to soar to an astonishing 300 million by 2030. Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu unveiled these projections during a conference organized by the French Aerospace Industries Association (GIFAS) in New Delhi. The government is investing approximately USD 11 billion into developing airport infrastructure, setting the stage for a surge in air travel over the next decade.

India currently operates 157 airports, and the number is set to rise to 200 by 2025. This development is a critical part of the broader strategy to support the growing demand for domestic flights. Beyond just increasing airport capacity, the country is also focusing on sustainability by working closely with France to establish a global supply chain for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). This collaboration aims to enhance India’s green initiatives while bolstering the aviation sector’s expansion.

India’s rapid urbanization and economic growth are key factors driving this projected boom in air travel. As more people turn to flying for both business and leisure, the government’s continued focus on improving infrastructure and sustainability will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the country’s aviation industry.
