Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has intensified his criticism of the previous Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, accusing it of stalling major development projects and fostering corruption. Speaking at rallies ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections on November 20, Shinde described the MVA as an “anti-development government” that prioritized political gains over public welfare.
Shinde accused the MVA of delaying projects worth ₹8.89 lakh crore, including the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train, causing job losses. “The MVA will be remembered for halting progress,” he remarked. They made an unnatural alliance driven by the greed for power,” he remarked in Pune.
Shinde highlighted his government’s success, including 124 irrigation projects, farmer insurance expansion, and raising women’s aid to ₹2,100 monthly.
Shinde emphasized his administration’s focus on welfare, asserting, “We are a government of action, not excuses,” from day one.
He accused the MVA of corruption during the COVID-19 crisis, alleging mismanagement of funds, including body bags and food supplies.
The Mahayuti alliance, led by Shinde’s Shiv Sena, BJP, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP, is contesting against the MVA coalition in the elections.
Shinde expressed confidence in securing voter support, stating, “People will stand with the Mahayuti because we deliver results, not excuses.”
The Election Commission will announce the results for all 288 constituencies on November 23.
