The Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), under the Ministry of AYUSH, in collaboration with the Manipal Institute of Virology (MIV), a constituent unit of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, is conducting a five-day residential workshop titled “Biosafety & Outbreak Simulation Training 2025” from October 6 to 10, 2025. The workshop is held at the MAHE campus in Karnataka and is designed exclusively for CCRH research scientists.
Training Program and Participant Selection
This capacity-building workshop intends to enhance biosafety practices, outbreak response capabilities, and public health preparedness among homoeopathy researchers. The program saw participation from 33 CCRH units across 22 States and Union Territories, with 30 talented scientists selected through a stringent online assessment for specialized training.
Dignitaries and MoU Collaboration
Dr. Chiranjay Mukhopadhyay, Director of MIV, welcomed the dignitaries and trainees. Dr. Subhash Kaushik, Director General of CCRH, inaugurated the workshop and underscored the importance of the CCRH-MAHE partnership in building a resilient healthcare system. An MoU was signed between CCRH and MAHE, represented by Dr. Kaushik and Dr. P. Giridhar Kini, Registrar of MAHE, to foster collaboration in research, education, and training.
Key Addresses and Workshop Coordination
Dr. Sharath Kumar Rao K, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Health Sciences at MAHE, praised the initiative and assured support for joint research. The workshop is coordinated by Dr. Suhana P. Azis, Research Officer at CCRH; Dr. Sreekanth Gopinathan Pillai, Associate Professor; Dr. Sudheesh N., Assistant Professor; and Mr. Anup Jayaram, Lecturer at MIV.
Conclusion
This innovative workshop represents a critical step toward equipping Ayurvedic and homoeopathy scientists with modern biosafety skills and enhancing India’s response capacity to health emergencies. The CCRH-MAHE partnership exemplifies the integration of traditional systems with contemporary scientific training to strengthen India’s public health framework.
