India Strong Post’s Digital & Logistics Transformation Under Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia: Ushering Viksit Bharat: 2025

Breaking News

Under the dynamic leadership of Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Department of Posts (DoP) has embarked on an unprecedented transformation journey. Focusing on logistics reforms, digital innovation, and citizen-centric services, India Post is laying the foundation for a Viksit Bharat—modern, inclusive, and globally competitive.

Revolutionary Digital Innovation & Service Expansion

India Post has been restructured into six verticals—Mail, Parcel, International Relations, POSB, PLI, and Citizen-Centric Services—supported by four enablers: Technology, HR, Finance, and Customer Satisfaction. These structural reforms, especially the indigenous IT 2.0 project developed at the Centre for Excellence in Postal Technology (CEPT), fuel India Post’s digital evolution.

Key Achievements:

  • Aadhaar and Passport Services: Over 3.57 crore Aadhaar enrolments and updates, and 43 lakh passports processed with the addition of 10 new Passport Seva Kendras.

  • PM Vishwakarma and Exports: Delivery of 9.13 lakh PM Vishwakarma toolkits and facilitation of 6.94 lakh export shipments worth ₹148.19 crore through Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras.

  • India Post Payments Bank: 3.5 crore new accounts opened (99% via doorstep service, 59% held by women), facilitating digital inclusion.

  • Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana: Over 81 lakh accounts opened, promoting girl child financial empowerment.

Logistics Modernisation & New Product Launches

India Post’s logistics backbone is being strengthened by 344 centralized Delivery Centres (Phase I). Real-time tracking, OTP authentication, electronic proof of delivery, and open API integration now empower India Post to compete with the most advanced logistics providers.

New Offerings Include:

  • 24 Speed Post (guaranteed 24-hour delivery)

  • 48 Speed Post (guaranteed 48-hour delivery)

  • Parcel Next Day Delivery and Parcel E2E (end-to-end tracking)

  • Direct Line (faster cross-border shipping in collaboration with industry leaders)

  • Speed Post International and Parcel Last Mile (enhanced global and last-mile connectivity)

India Post’s partnerships with Amazon, Flipkart, and ONDC reflect its ambition to be India’s premier mid- and last-mile partner for both domestic and international e-commerce.

Digital Address Revolution: National Addressing Grid (DIGIPIN)

A pioneering initiative—DIGIPIN—maps India into 4m x 4m grids, assigning unique 10-character alphanumeric codes to every location. This innovation will enhance service delivery, geospatial governance, disaster response, e-governance, and digital KYC across BFSI, setting India apart in global public service innovation.

Rural Reach, Customer Focus & Financial Empowerment

India Post is leveraging its rural network of 1.5 lakh post offices, rolling out dedicated logistics and credit services to support entrepreneurs, MSMEs, women’s self-help groups, and e-commerce exporters.
The revamped CRM platform prioritizes proactive feedback and personalized engagement over traditional complaint handling, boosting customer satisfaction and trust.

Conclusion

From next-generation digital infrastructure to unmatched logistics reach, India Post is well on its way to becoming a profit-oriented, public logistics leader. Its comprehensive reforms and citizen-focused innovation epitomize the spirit of self-reliance and inclusive growth for Viksit Bharat—ensuring every Indian, every business, and every village is connected to economic opportunity and efficient public services.
