A shocking case has emerged from Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area, where a woman and her lover allegedly strangled her six-year-old daughter. The child reportedly caught the duo in a compromising position, leading them to fear exposure. The incident has sparked outrage and is under active investigation.
A hospital alerted authorities after observing clear signs of strangulation on the child brought in. During interrogation, the mother confessed to the crime, implicating her lover. The Delhi Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Usha Rangnani stated, “This heinous act highlights a gross betrayal of trust. “We are committed to ensuring justice is served.” The accused have admitted to planning the crime, driven by fears of exposing their relationship.
Experts have condemned the crime. Child rights activist Bharti Sharma noted, “This tragic case underlines the urgent need for community vigilance and stricter enforcement of child protection laws.”
This case follows a similar disturbing trend, recalling a recent incident in Bihar where a woman killed her toddler for personal motives. These crimes underscore the critical importance of safeguarding children and addressing vulnerabilities in familial environments.
The investigation continues, with both suspects in custody. Authorities urge the public to report any signs of abuse to prevent such tragedies in the future.
