India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to provide doorstep Digital Life Certificate (DLC) services for pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 (EPS’95). This strategic partnership aims to make pension verification more accessible, especially for elderly pensioners living in remote areas.
Extensive Postal Network and Advanced Technology
IPPB will leverage its wide network of over 1.65 lakh post offices and more than 3 lakh postal service providers, including Postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks. Equipped with digital face authentication and fingerprint biometric verification technologies, they will assist pensioners in submitting their Digital Life Certificates from the comfort of their homes, eliminating the need for physical visits to offices.
Cost-Free Service for Pensioners
The Department of Labour & Employment will bear the entire cost of issuing the Digital Life Certificate, ensuring the service remains free for pensioners. This initiative not only enhances convenience but also aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Digital India’ and ‘Ease of Living’ vision, facilitating inclusive service delivery.
Seamless and Secure Verification Process
Pensioners are required to contact their nearest Postman or visit a local Post Office, where they will provide their Aadhaar number and pension details. The process involves Aadhaar-linked face recognition or fingerprint authentication. Upon completion, a confirmation SMS is sent to the pensioner, and the digital certificate can be viewed online the next day at the Jeevan Pramaan portal.
Simplifying Pension Procedures: EPFO
This partnership is a significant step toward digital and financial inclusion, particularly for pensioners in rural and semi-urban areas, ensuring timely pension disbursements and reducing procedural hassles. It highlights the government’s commitment to ‘Ease of Living’ by harnessing postal and digital infrastructure.
