Jharkhand: Ranchi will host a significant political event on November 28, 2024, as Hemant Soren is set to be sworn in as Jharkhand’s 14th chief minister. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar will administer the oath during a grand ceremony at Morabadi Maidan at 4 PM. This marks Soren’s fourth tenure as chief minister, further cementing his leadership in the state.
Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led coalition secured a strong mandate in the recent assembly elections, winning 56 out of 81 seats in alliance with the Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist). The victory is seen as a rebuff to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which managed only 21 seats, one of its poorest performances in the state’s history.
Prominent leaders from the INDIA opposition alliance, including Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, and Arvind Kejriwal, are expected to attend the event, showcasing solidarity within the bloc.
Soren’s political journey has been marked by resilience. Despite facing legal challenges earlier this year, including allegations of corruption, he emerged victorious in the elections. His focus on tribal welfare and resistance to laws perceived as anti-tribal played a pivotal role in his comeback.
