NEW DELHI: In a landmark political moment, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was sworn in as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Lok Sabha on November 28, 2024. Holding a copy of the Indian Constitution, Priyanka took her oath in the presence of her family, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and her children. This marked her formal entry into parliamentary politics after a decisive bypoll victory in Wayanad, Kerala.
Priyanka secured the seat with a margin of over 4,10,000 votes, defeating CPI’s Sathyan Mokeri and BJP’s Navya Haridas. The Wayanad constituency, a Congress stronghold, was previously represented by her brother, Rahul Gandhi, who now serves as MP from Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh. Priyanka’s win further cements the Gandhi family’s political legacy as the Congress eyes a resurgence ahead of the 2024 general elections.
