Mumbai: As political suspense looms over the future of Maharashtra’s Chief Minister (CM) position, Eknath Shinde’s son, Shrikant Shinde, expressed immense pride in his father’s leadership, praising his commitment to “alliance dharma” and his willingness to set aside personal ambitions for the greater good.
In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday evening, Shrikant Shinde lauded his father’s dedication to the people of Maharashtra. “My father worked tirelessly for every section of society, day and night, and has an unbreakable bond with the people,” he wrote. Shrikant’s comments came after Eknath Shinde, the incumbent caretaker CM, made a public declaration to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in naming the next CM, signaling the potential for a leadership change in the state.
During a press conference, Eknath Shinde affirmed that his party, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), would not obstruct the formation of a new government. He assured that he had spoken to Modi and Shah, pledging full cooperation in the political transition. Shinde, who has been in office since June 2022 after a dramatic split from Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, emphasized that his party’s primary focus was the state’s progress, not personal power.
“I am proud of my father,” said Shrikant Shinde, a Member of Parliament from Kalyan. “He has set an example of alliance dharma by putting the state’s interest ahead of personal ambition.” He further noted that his father’s legacy of serving the people over seeking power would inspire future generations.
The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance’s victory has sparked speculation over Maharashtra’s next CM, with Devendra Fadnavis being considered. This decision, while leaving the door open for others, emphasizes the importance of collaboration in Maharashtra’s future.
