Devendra Fadnavis Thanks Amit Shah for Support After Mahayuti’s Victory in Maharashtra

Breaking News

Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, expressed his gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his pivotal role in securing a resounding victory for the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections. The alliance achieved a historic win, clinching 230 of the 288 assembly seats, with the BJP emerging as the largest contributor with 132 seats, followed by Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP.

Fadnavis conveyed his appreciation for Shah’s strategic guidance during the elections and highlighted the cohesive efforts of the alliance leaders. In his acknowledgment, Fadnavis also recognized the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which he credited for restoring voter confidence in the BJP following setbacks in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The elections, held on November 20 with results declared on November 23, marked a crucial comeback for the BJP in Maharashtra. Fadnavis attributed the victory to effective coalition management and popular schemes like the “Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana,” which resonated strongly with the electorate, especially women.

Meanwhile, discussions on finalizing the Chief Minister’s position are ongoing. Although caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed optimism about the alliance’s unity, speculation is rife that Fadnavis may emerge as the top contender for the post. Mahayuti leaders are expected to convene in Mumbai soon to announce their decision.

This triumph has also placed a spotlight on the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, which faced significant losses. Analysts suggest internal discord and overconfidence within the Congress-led alliance contributed to their underwhelming performance.

The Mahayuti alliance’s win reaffirms its dominance in Maharashtra politics and sets the stage for crucial leadership decisions in the coming days.
