Thane: Police have arrested two individuals accused of deceiving a businessman in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, by selling fake gold coins worth Rs.30.05 lakh. The suspects, Ravi Kishan Marwadi (24) from Bhiwandi and Manasingh Gulshan Solanki (40) from Diva, were apprehended on November 28. Another accomplice, identified as Mohan, is currently at large.
The incident unfolded on November 26 when the accused approached the victim, a sweet shop owner, claiming to have found five kilograms of gold during excavation work. They offered to sell the purported treasure at an attractive price. On the following day, they handed over a bag of counterfeit gold coins and collected ₹30.05 lakh from the unsuspecting businessman.
The scam came to light when the victim discovered the coins were fake and reported the matter to the Narpoli police station. Authorities have charged the arrested individuals under sections related to cheating and fraud. Efforts are underway to track down the third accused, Mohan.
