LVM3 Demonstrates World-Class Reliability with Successful Deployment of Heaviest Payload, Says Dr. Jitendra Singh

Breaking News

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Jitendra Singh, on December 24, 2025, congratulated Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on the successful launch of the LVM3-M6 mission, calling it a landmark achievement in India’s space journey. The mission, which carried the BlueBird Block-2 communication satellite, showcased India’s growing heavy-lift capability and reinforced its credibility in the global commercial launch market.

Heaviest Payload Successfully Launched by an Indian Rocket

The LVM3-M6 mission marked a historic first, as it placed the heaviest satellite ever launched by an Indian launch vehicle into its designated orbit. This achievement represents a major leap in India’s heavy-lift launch capabilities, positioning the LVM3 among the most reliable and competitive launch vehicles worldwide.

Dr. Jitendra Singh noted that under the visionary leadership of Narendra Modi, ISRO continues to scale new milestones, strengthening India’s global standing in advanced space technologies and commercial space services.

Flawless Performance of LVM3-M6

Secretary, Department of Space and Chairman of ISRO, V. Narayanan, stated that the LVM3-M6 launch vehicle performed flawlessly, precisely injecting the BlueBird Block-2 satellite into its intended low Earth orbit.

He highlighted that:

  • This was the heaviest satellite launched from Indian soil using an indigenous launcher

  • It was the third fully commercial mission of the LVM3

  • The mission reaffirmed the world-class reliability and consistency of the LVM3 platform

According to him, the LVM3 has now firmly established itself among the top heavy-lift launch systems globally.

Next-Generation Satellite for Direct-to-Mobile Connectivity

The BlueBird Block-2 satellite is part of a next-generation communication constellation designed to deliver space-based cellular broadband connectivity directly to standard mobile smartphones, without requiring specialised user equipment. This technology has the potential to transform global connectivity, particularly in remote and underserved regions.

The mission was undertaken under a commercial agreement between NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) and AST SpaceMobile, underlining India’s emergence as a trusted global launch partner for cutting-edge communication missions.

Boost to India’s Commercial Space Ambitions

The successful deployment of BlueBird Block-2 further enhances confidence in India’s indigenous launch systems and strengthens the country’s role in the international commercial launch ecosystem. With repeated flawless missions, LVM3 is increasingly seen as a dependable choice for heavy and high-value payloads.

Conclusion
The LVM3-M6 mission stands as a defining moment for India’s space programme—demonstrating technological maturity, world-class reliability, and commercial competitiveness. As ISRO continues to push the frontiers of heavy-lift and commercial space missions, India’s stature as a leading global space power is being firmly cemented.
