Amid ongoing speculation about the formation of Maharashtra’s new government, Shrikant Shinde, son of Caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has dismissed rumors of him becoming the state’s deputy chief minister. Addressing these claims on microblogging platform X, Shinde clarified that he is not in the race for any ministerial position.
“There are numerous rumors circulating about me being considered for the deputy chief minister post. I categorically state that these are baseless. My focus remains solely on working for my Lok Sabha constituency and strengthening Shiv Sena,” Shinde wrote.
Shrikant Shinde, who represents Maharashtra’s Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency, added that even after the Lok Sabha elections, he declined an offer to join the central government, choosing instead to prioritize party work. “I have no desire for a position of power,” he reiterated.
The delay in swearing in the new government has fueled political speculation. The BJP-led NDA won Maharashtra elections, with Fadnavis set as CM. Eknath Shinde supports the BJP’s decision.
The BJP is expected to hold the swearing-in ceremony soon, with Fadnavis likely assuming the role of chief minister. However, political dynamics and speculation continue to dominate discussions in the state.
