Farmers from Punjab, demanding a discussion on the Minimum Support Price (MSP), broke police barricades near Noida’s Dalit Prerna Sthal and began their march towards Delhi. Led by the Bharatiya Kisan Parishad, the farmers started the protest on Monday, with authorities deploying barricades and issuing travel advisories for commuters between Noida and Delhi.

The protest was planned to begin at the Maha Maya flyover in Noida at noon. In response, Delhi Police strengthened security at all major borders in East Delhi. Additional Commissioner Sagar Singh Kalsi stated that anti-riot measures, barricading, and drone surveillance were in place to ensure the protest did not disrupt public life.

However, despite heavy police presence, the farmers successfully broke through the barriers. Joint Commissioner Sanjay Kumar added that heightened security, including personnel from CAPF and local police, had been deployed, and drone surveillance was actively monitoring the situation.

The farmers’ march comes just hours after the Supreme Court urged Punjab farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal to avoid obstructing highways. Dallewal, who is on a hunger strike at the Khanauri border, is demanding the government’s acceptance of farmer concerns, including legal guarantees for MSP, implementation of Swaminathan Commission recommendations, pension for farmers, and compensation for those who died during the 2020-21 agitation.
