Renowned UPSC educator Avadh Ojha, popularly known as Ojha Sir, officially joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday in New Delhi. AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia marked his induction into the party.
Ojha, hailing from Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh, has been a prominent figure in the UPSC coaching industry for years, gaining immense popularity online for his political commentary and educational insights. His social media presence, where he frequently shares his political views, has made him a familiar name among students and the general public alike.
Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to enter politics, Ojha highlighted his primary goal: enhancing the country’s education infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of educational reform in fostering development and employment opportunities for the youth. Kejriwal lauded Ojha’s entry into politics, stating that his experience in education would greatly benefit India’s growth, particularly in shaping the future of the younger generation.
Ojha joining AAP ahead of the Delhi elections, where the party seeks a third consecutive term, boosts their strategy. Known for his engaging teaching style, Ojha has been influential in educating UPSC aspirants by blending history, current affairs, and geopolitics into his lessons.
Born into a working-class family in Gonda, Ojha initially pursued medicine at the insistence of his parents but later shifted his focus to UPSC preparation.
After facing setbacks, including being disowned by his family for not pursuing a conventional career, Ojha turned to coaching and founded his institute in Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar in 2005.
He later established Iqra IAS Academy in Pune in 2019.
