Sitharaman Accuses Congress-Led MVA Government of Stalling Bullet Train and Metro Projects

Union Finance Minister Blames MVA for Delays in Key Infrastructure Projects in Maharashtra

Breaking News

MUMBAI: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman recently accused the previous Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra of delaying critical infrastructure projects, particularly the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train and the Mumbai Metro car shed in Aarey Colony. Sitharaman pointed out that the MVA government had created hurdles during the implementation of these projects, which are vital for improving transportation in the region.

She emphasized that the efforts of the Union government to resolve issues affecting Mumbai’s suburban railway network were hampered by the previous administration. The Finance Minister’s remarks came during a meeting of the state BJP legislature party, where Devendra Fadnavis was elected as its leader ahead of the formation of a new BJP-led government.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, which aims to connect the two cities with a high-speed rail network, has faced significant delays in land acquisition and permissions. However, with the current government in power, the project is expected to pick up pace, with the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) pushing forward on acquiring the remaining land.
