Mumbai, December 5, 2024: Devendra Fadnavis is set to take the oath as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister today, marking his return to the helm after a resounding victory by the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance in the recent state elections. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Azad Maidan in Mumbai, with prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expected to attend.
The Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, the Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP, secured a significant majority in the Assembly elections, winning 230 out of 288 seats. The BJP emerged as the largest party with 132 seats, followed by Shiv Sena’s 57 and NCP’s 41. This decisive mandate reflects the electorate’s preference for stability and experienced leadership.
