Minister S Regupathy Says DMK-Congress Alliance Remains Strong
Minister S Regupathy has firmly stated that the DMK–Congress alliance remains united and stable, putting an end to ongoing speculation about possible cracks within the coalition ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Speaking to reporters in Pudukottai, the senior DMK minister expressed confidence in the strength of the alliance and said that there was no confusion or disagreement between the partners.

According to Regupathy, the alliance details would be officially announced by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at the appropriate time. He stressed that the DMK has always followed a political approach that values long-term partnerships and mutual respect. He added that the party does not believe in distancing itself from allies once commitments are made, underlining Chief Minister M K Stalin’s leadership style of inclusive politics.
The minister made it clear that discussions related to power-sharing and seat allocation have already been addressed internally and that unnecessary rumours are being spread for political reasons. He insisted that no external force could weaken the alliance, which he described as ideologically aligned and politically secure.
Minister S Regupathy Dismisses Opposition Narratives and Claims Stability
During his interaction with the media, Regupathy also took aim at opposition leaders who have predicted a fractured mandate or a coalition government in the next Assembly. He dismissed such predictions as irrelevant and politically motivated, stating that the DMK is well-positioned to secure a clear majority on its own.

Referring indirectly to remarks made by leaders outside the DMK-led front, Regupathy said such claims were attempts to remain politically visible rather than realistic assessments of the electoral situation. He maintained that the ruling party’s governance record and welfare initiatives have created strong public support across the state.
The minister also addressed speculation around the Congress party’s role within the alliance, reiterating that the relationship remains intact and cooperative. He said that the DMK has never treated allies as temporary partners and that decisions are taken through dialogue, not pressure.
Minister S Regupathy Targets AIADMK Over Welfare Promises
Shifting focus to the opposition AIADMK, Regupathy criticised party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami for what he described as misleading promises and policy imitation. He accused the AIADMK leadership of copying welfare schemes introduced by the DMK government while failing to deliver on earlier commitments.

Regupathy recalled that during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the AIADMK had promised monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,000 to people living below the poverty line. According to him, the promise remained unfulfilled even after the party came to power, raising serious questions about credibility.
The minister further pointed out what he termed as contradictions in the opposition’s statements. He said that leaders who once claimed cash assistance to women was not financially feasible were now making similar promises only because of the popularity of the DMK government’s Rs 1,000 monthly women’s entitlement scheme.
He argued that such announcements lacked sincerity and were driven purely by electoral pressure. Regupathy said the success of DMK welfare policies has forced opposition parties to adopt similar language, even if they previously opposed such measures. The minister concluded by reiterating his confidence in the DMK’s electoral prospects. He stated that the party’s performance in governance, combined with its strong alliance framework, places it in a favourable position ahead of the polls. He added that voters are capable of distinguishing between implemented policies and empty assurances.
Conclusion
Minister S Regupathy’s remarks underline the DMK’s confidence going into the Assembly elections, dismissing alliance doubts and opposition claims while projecting unity, stability, and continuity in governance.
