Dr Mansukh Mandaviya Interacts with PM-SYM Beneficiaries on Republic Day 2026, Highlights Vision of a ‘Sashakt, Samriddha Bharat’

Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, today interacted with beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) Scheme on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day. More than 100 beneficiaries and their family members from across the country were invited as special guests, acknowledging their contribution to the unorganised sector and their association with the flagship social security initiative.

Welcoming the beneficiaries on behalf of the Government of India, the Minister said that the invitation was extended at the initiative of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, reflecting the Government’s commitment to citizen-centric governance and inclusive development.


Government Policies Laying the Foundation for a ‘Sashakt, Samriddha Bharat’

Addressing the gathering, Dr Mandaviya reiterated the Government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring social security and dignity for unorganised workers. He stressed that governance must remain close to the people to effectively understand their needs, challenges and aspirations.

Referring to the significance of Republic Day, the Minister highlighted the symbolic transformation from Rajpath to Kartavya Path, stating that it reflects India’s evolving democratic ethos and collective responsibility.

He also underlined key welfare initiatives of the Government, including:

  • Free foodgrains for nearly 80 crore beneficiaries

  • Expansion of electricity and LPG connections

  • Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) support to farmers

  • Scholarships and educational support for children

These initiatives, he said, are collectively laying the foundation for a “Sashakt, Samriddha Bharat” (Strong and Prosperous India).




Beneficiaries Share Experiences of Security and Dignity

During the interaction, beneficiaries shared their personal experiences of enrolling under the PM-SYM scheme, highlighting the sense of financial security and dignity the assured pension provides for their future.

They also expressed gratitude for being invited to Delhi and for the opportunity to witness the Republic Day Parade, stating that the experience strengthened their belief that the Government truly understands and values the aspirations of ordinary citizens.


PM-SYM Scheme: Strengthening Social Security for Unorganised Workers

Launched in 2019, the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) Scheme is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme aimed at unorganised workers earning up to ₹15,000 per month who are not covered under EPFO, ESIC or NPS.

Key features of the scheme include:

  • Eligibility age: 18–40 years

  • Small monthly contribution by beneficiary

  • Equal matching contribution by the Central Government

  • Assured minimum pension of ₹3,000 per month after 60 years of age

  • Family pension benefit: 50% pension to spouse in case of death

  • Implemented through Maandhan portal and Common Service Centres (CSCs)

  • Free and accessible enrolment process

The scheme reflects the Government’s sustained commitment to ensuring income security and social protection for millions of unorganised workers.
