Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), has expressed her dissatisfaction with the current leadership of the opposition INDIA alliance and indicated her willingness to take on a leadership role if given the chance. Banerjee, who was instrumental in the formation of the INDIA bloc, emphasized that she is capable of managing both the opposition front and her responsibilities as the Chief Minister of West Bengal simultaneously.

In an interview with Bengali news channel News 18 Bangla, Banerjee stated, “I played a key role in the formation of the INDIA bloc, and if the situation demands, I am ready to lead the alliance.” She expressed frustration with the way the alliance is currently being run, suggesting that the current leadership has failed to unite the diverse opposition parties effectively. “If the current leaders can’t manage the bloc properly, I am prepared to step in,” she added, underlining the importance of cohesion within the alliance.

Banerjee also assured that managing both the INDIA bloc and her state duties would not be an issue for her, citing her experience in handling multiple roles in the past. “I’ve always managed responsibilities effectively, and I believe I can oversee the opposition front while continuing as Chief Minister,” she said.

Her comments reflect concerns over the opposition’s ability to present a united front against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming national elections. Banerjee concluded by emphasizing that the success of the INDIA bloc depends on bringing all parties together and ensuring every voice is heard in the alliance’s decision-making.
