Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has initiated a significant recruitment drive to fill 1.53 lakh vacancies across various departments, aiming to tackle unemployment and improve governance. Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan, in his address to the state legislature, highlighted that 78,309 positions have already been filled.

Further, the state has prioritized recruitment under the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act (PESA). A total of 6,931 posts across 17 cadres are being filled on an honorarium basis, pending Supreme Court approval.

This initiative aligns with the government’s broader goals to enhance state infrastructure and service delivery. Reports suggest that specific departments such as education, health, and rural development are among the largest beneficiaries of this employment drive. The government’s budget commitments for 2024-25 further emphasize increased funding for these sectors, reflecting its focus on developmental priorities.

The recruitment process also underscores Maharashtra’s commitment to inclusive employment, focusing on underserved communities. Programs are being designed to provide skill-based training for eligible candidates, ensuring long-term employability.

This ambitious move is expected to boost the state’s economy and inspire other states to address employment challenges. With the emphasis on transparency and efficiency, the recruitment drive has garnered attention nationwide as a model initiative.
