The ruling Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra has reached an agreement on the distribution of cabinet seats. In terms of crucial portfolios, the BJP is set to retain the Home and Revenue departments. Meanwhile, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena is expected to oversee Urban Development, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP will manage Finance. They are discussing a potential cabinet expansion for December 14, though the details remain unconfirmed.
At a meeting held on Tuesday between Fadnavis, Shinde, and Pawar, the leaders finalized the number of cabinet positions and portfolio distribution. Sources indicated that while the parties have decided on the distribution of key departments, they may make further adjustments in the future. Besides Home and Revenue, the BJP is set to retain Housing and Water Resources, while the NCP may take charge of Cooperation. Discussions are ongoing between the BJP and NCP regarding Agriculture. The Shiv Sena is likely to manage Excise and Public Works.

Fadnavis, focusing on ensuring broad representation from all three parties, emphasized the need for maximum participation in the upcoming assembly session. The swearing-in ceremony is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, with any delay pushing it to after the assembly session, which is expected to conclude by December 21.
