Actor Sapna Singh’s 14-year-old son, Sagar Gangwar, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Bareilly, leading to a police investigation and the arrest of his two friends. The case has sparked protests, with residents demanding justice.
Sagar’s body was discovered on Sunday morning near Adalakhia village, and initial investigations raised suspicions of foul play. His mother, Sapna Singh, known for her roles in Crime Patrol and Mati Ki Banno, staged a protest on Tuesday after returning from Mumbai, demanding accountability from the authorities. The protest ended after more than 90 minutes when the police assured her that action would be taken.
Police arrested two of Sagar’s friends, Anuj and Sunny, on charges of murder. During questioning, the suspects confessed to having consumed drugs and alcohol with Sagar. They claimed that the overdose caused Sagar to collapse, and in a panic, they dragged his body to a nearby field, leaving it there.
A postmortem report did not conclusively determine the cause of death, though it indicated possible poisoning or a drug overdose. The police have sent viscera samples for further examination. CCTV footage from the area later confirmed the involvement of Anuj and Sunny, leading to their detention.
Sagar, a Class 8 student, was living with his maternal uncle, Om Prakash, in Bareilly at the time of the incident. The case has drawn public outrage, and villagers have blocked roads, demanding a second postmortem. Following the protests, the police filed a fresh FIR and added murder charges to the investigation.
