Union Minister and Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha, JP Nadda, sharply criticized the recent remarks made by Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. Nadda condemned the Opposition’s call for Dhankhar’s removal, stating that questioning the Chair on matters like admissibility or criticizing the Chairman’s rulings amounts to “contempt of the House.” He stressed that such actions undermine constitutional values and set a dangerous precedent.

In a press conference, Nadda expressed disappointment over Kharge’s comments, noting that as the Leader of the Opposition, Kharge should respect the office of the Chairman.JP Nadda pointed out that despite Dhankhar’s invitation, Kharge chose not to participate in meetings or debates, which suggested that Kharge lacked genuine interest in the democratic process. Nadda also addressed the Congress party’s criticism on social media, where it had referred to Dhankhar as a “cheerleader,” emphasizing that such remarks were an attempt to belittle a constitutional position.  He described this attempt to belittle a constitutional position as an affront to the values the nation holds dear. He called on the public to recognize the seriousness of these actions and warned that the people of India would not tolerate such behavior.

Further escalating the issue, Nadda accused Congress of trying to deflect attention from a more pressing issue—the alleged ties between Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and financier George Soros. He suggested that the Congress party’s actions, including the press conference and Kharge’s criticisms, were part of a strategy to divert the focus from this controversy.
