In a disturbing incident in Guwahati, eight individuals have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the gangrape of a woman at a Durga temple during the Raas Mahotsav on November 17. The crime, which went unnoticed for weeks, came to light when a video of the assault surfaced on social media.

The accused, aged between 18 and 23, filmed the assault and shared it online, prompting widespread outrage. Police identified the arrested suspects as Robin Das, Kuldeep Nath, Bijoy Rabha, Pinku Das, Gagan Das, Saurav Boro, Mrinal Rabha, and Dipankar Mukhiya, with a ninth individual still on the run. Despite intensive efforts, the victim has not been located, although she was reportedly seen in a public place a week after the incident.

The incident took place on the evening of November 17 when the girl visited the temple with one of the accused. The group, allegedly intoxicated, sexually assaulted the victim while recording the act. Authorities have warned that sharing the video is a criminal offense and vowed to take action against anyone found circulating it.
