Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called for a concerted and coordinated effort from all security agencies to eliminate Left Wing Extremism (LWE) or Naxalism by March 2026. Addressing a review meeting in Chhattisgarh, Shah emphasized the critical role of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in achieving this goal.
The meeting, attended by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma, and senior officials from the Chhattisgarh government and central forces, focused on evaluating the current LWE situation in the region. Shah stressed the importance of a joint effort from various forces, including the CRPF, ITBP, BSF, Chhattisgarh police, and the District Reserve Guard (DRG), in achieving success in the fight against Naxalism.
Acknowledging the progress made, Shah praised the coordinated efforts of Chhattisgarh’s police and security forces over the past year, highlighting the significant damage inflicted on Naxal groups. He emphasized, however, that the fight is far from over and urged all agencies to intensify their efforts to ensure the complete eradication of Naxalism by the target date.
Earlier, Shah visited the Gundam forward operating base in Bijapur district to assess the operational preparedness of security forces, further reinforcing his commitment to eliminating Naxalism in the region within the specified timeline.
