Several schools across Delhi received bomb threats on Tuesday, marking the fifth such incident in just over a week. This follows similar threats made earlier this week, highlighting an ongoing pattern of security concerns in the national capital.
An official from the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) confirmed that Crescent Public School in Saraswati Vihar, located in northwest Delhi, was among the institutions targeted. Security teams, including personnel from the fire department, local police, bomb detection squads, and dog units, were quickly deployed to conduct a thorough search of the premises. No suspicious items were found during the search.
The bomb threats have been a recurring issue in recent days. On Monday, around 20 schools, including DPS RK Puram, also received threat emails. A similar incident occurred on December 13, when 30 schools received bomb threats, prompting a comprehensive search operation. The situation escalated on December 14, with eight schools, including DPS RK Puram, receiving threats from a sender claiming to use “bomb vests” for explosions.
The authorities are actively investigating the series of threats, with the Delhi Police Special Cell having registered an FIR following the threats to 44 schools on December 9.
In response to the threats, schools in Delhi-NCR shifted to hybrid mode for conducting classes on Tuesday, as part of the ongoing anti-pollution measures under Stage 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). This change applies to grades 6-9 and 11, while students in grades 10 and 12 are required to attend school in person.
The repeated threats have raised concerns about security in educational institutions, with authorities urging heightened vigilance.
