Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh called on the people of Senapati to support ongoing peace efforts and help restore stability to the state. In a speech delivered on Wednesday, he acknowledged the unrest and misunderstandings that have led to the loss of lives and property and emphasized the crucial role of the people of Senapati in preserving Manipur’s unity and peaceful coexistence.
Singh highlighted the importance of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) such as the Naga Peoples’ Organisation, United Naga Council, and various student associations in ensuring the state’s unity and integrity. “All humans are bound to err, but there should be room for reconciliation, forgiveness, and understanding through meetings and dialogue,” Singh said, urging for peace during the inauguration of the three-day RobvenaNi 2024 Festival at Asufii Robvena Ground in Senapati’s Punanamei Village.
The Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to the equitable development of both the hills and valleys through programs like ‘Go to Hills,’ aimed at transforming the hill districts. He proudly shared that the government has achieved 70–80% success in these development initiatives.
Singh also announced plans to install advanced medical facilities, including MRI and CT scan machines, in hill districts such as Senapati, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, and Chandel. On the infrastructure front, Singh highlighted significant improvements in road connectivity, with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari sanctioning ₹777 crores for the widening of the Shangshak to Tengnoupal road.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of preserving the state’s rich diversity, with 34–35 recognized tribes, and the construction of the Sangai Ethnic Park, which showcases traditional huts representing each tribe. Singh also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling the drug crisis and safeguarding future generations, while working to identify illegal immigrants through constitutional measures and satellite mapping.
