The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially confirmed that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host all of India’s matches during the 2025 Champions Trophy, bringing an end to the ongoing stand-off between the PCB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
This decision follows India’s earlier announcement that their team, led by Rohit Sharma, would not travel to Pakistan for the eight-nation ODI tournament, citing security concerns. This announcement had disappointed the PCB, which had threatened to pull out of the tournament at one point. However, the BCCI received strong support from the International Cricket Council (ICC) amid the unrest in Islamabad earlier this month.
The ICC had confirmed on Thursday that the 2025 Champions Trophy will follow a hybrid model, with India playing all their matches at a neutral venue, including the semifinals and final, should they qualify. The UAE was chosen after PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with the Emirates Cricket Board chairman, Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan.
While the PCB has confirmed the UAE as the neutral venue, the exact location of India’s matches has not yet been finalized, though Dubai is seen as the most likely host city. According to reports, India’s group stage matches will include a highly anticipated clash with Pakistan on February 23, and games against Bangladesh on February 20 and New Zealand on March 2.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s matches will be played in Karachi and Rawalpindi, with their campaign beginning against New Zealand on February 19.
The second group will feature Afghanistan, Australia, England, and South Africa, with their matches set to be hosted across three Pakistani cities—Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi.
