As tensions simmer ahead of the fourth Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia, a recent game involving some of Australia’s biggest cricket stars has sparked attention. The game, aired by ABC Sport, featured Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Nathan Lyon, and others, who were asked to describe the International Cricket Council (ICC), Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and Indian cricket in one word.

The session began with Australia’s Test captain, Pat Cummins, who simply described all three as “Big.” Next up was Travis Head, who called the BCCI “rulers” and referred to the ICC as “second,” showing no hesitation in his opinions.

Glenn Maxwell, Alex Carey, and Steve Smith followed suit, labeling the BCCI as “powerful.” However, when it came to the ICC, both Maxwell and Carey, along with Nathan Lyon, called it the “boss.” Smith, known for his cheeky humor, took a subtle dig at the ICC, calling it “not as powerful” as the BCCI. Smith quickly backtracked after laughing and clarified, “No, no, I can’t say that. It was a joke,” before referring to the ICC as “leaders.”

Usman Khawaja, however, chose a different route when asked to comment on the ICC, simply saying, “pass.” This response was likely linked to his previous experience with the ICC, where he had been denied permission to wear certain messages in support of humanitarian causes during the Boxing Day Test against Pakistan. Khawaja had criticized the ICC’s stance on such issues, calling out what he saw as double standards, which may have influenced his decision to pass on commenting.
