Three suspected Khalistani terrorists were killed in a joint operation by the Uttar Pradesh and Punjab police in Pilibhit early on Monday. The individuals, identified as Varinder Singh alias Ravi, Vi Gurvinder Singh, and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh, were reportedly linked to the Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) and had ISI backing, according to Punjab’s DGP, Gaurav Yadav.
The operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and two Glock pistols, suggesting the terrorists were preparing for further attacks. The men were allegedly involved in a grenade assault on the Bakshiwala police post in Gurdaspur, Punjab.
In a press briefing, DGP Yadav called the operation a significant breakthrough in the Punjab police’s fight against “ISI-sponsored terrorism.” He revealed that the KZF module was headed by Ranjit Singh Nita, who operates from Pakistan, with guidance from Jaswinder Singh Manu, a figure based in Greece. Notably, Manu hails from the same village as one of the deceased operatives, Varinder Singh.
Further investigations revealed the involvement of Jagjit Singh, a British Army soldier, in masterminding the attacks. Operating under the alias Fateh Singh Bagi, Singh is believed to have played a key role in orchestrating the violence, with the KZF claiming credit under this name.
Both Punjab and Uttar Pradesh authorities continue to probe the terrorist network, with more arrests expected. Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar confirmed that the suspects were severely injured during the encounter and later died from their wounds after being transported for medical treatment.
