Michele Morrone has come out in full support of his co-star Blake Lively, following her allegations of sexual harassment and a smear campaign involving Justin Baldoni, her former co-star and director on It Ends With Us. The controversy surrounding Lively has intensified, and Morrone shared a heartfelt message on Instagram to express his solidarity.
The Italian actor, who stars alongside Lively in the upcoming sequel to A Simple Favor, addressed the situation in a personal video. “It’s usually not my thing to make these kinds of videos,” Morrone said, “but I think it’s time to stand up for a person I really love, and this person is Blake Lively.”
Morrone reflected on his experience working with Lively on set, sharing that he noticed something was wrong during their time filming A Simple Favor 2. “I felt her pain,” he said, adding that they had the chance to discuss the matter privately. He also spoke out against the public scrutiny Lively has faced, calling attention to cruel comments and asking people to take the time to understand the full context of the situation before passing judgment.
In the video, Morrone referenced a New York Times article that highlighted text messages allegedly revealing a campaign against Lively, which he believes was orchestrated by Baldoni. He encouraged followers to read the article to get a clearer understanding of the situation.
Morrone’s message ended with a show of affection for Lively, saying, “Blake, I love you so much. Keep it up and we’ll see each other very soon. Love you.”
Morrone is one of several celebrities who have rallied behind Lively. Other prominent figures expressing their support include Colleen Hoover, Amy Schumer, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Lively’s Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel.
The controversy escalated after Justin Baldoni, known for his role in Jane The Virgin, was awarded the Voices of Solidarity honor on December 9 for his advocacy for women’s rights. However, in light of Lively’s allegations, the Vital Voices organization has since rescinded the award, adding another layer to the ongoing dispute.
