Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath commemorated Veer Bal Diwas (Sahibzada Diwas) at his official residence, paying tribute to the unparalleled sacrifices of the Sikh Gurus and their descendants. He emphasized the community’s resilience and the enduring relevance of their ideals in today’s world.

Addressing the gathering, Adityanath remarked, “The Sikh community has a glorious history, yet we hear that only a handful of Sikh families remain in Kabul. Incidents in Bangladesh and atrocities in Pakistan remind us of the sacrifices of the Sikh Gurus.”

He further stated, “The ideals of the Sikh Gurus provide us with the energy to move forward. Their blessings serve as our inspiration. By carrying forward their legacy, we can prevent situations like those in Kabul and Bangladesh. Places like Nankana Sahib will come to us naturally, without the need for agitation or struggle.”

The Chief Minister also highlighted the recent rise in violence against minorities in neighboring countries. There have been 2,200 cases of violence against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh this year, a significant increase from previous years. In Pakistan, minorities, including Sikhs, continue to face discrimination and targeted attacks, underscoring the relevance of the Sikh Gurus’ teachings on resilience and faith.

During the event, Adityanath released a book based on the teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur and initiated 11,000 Sahaj Paaths, aiming to spread the Gurus’ messages of unity and strength. He praised the Sikh community as a resilient and prosperous segment of the nation, setting exemplary standards through their strength, dedication, and hard work.

Reflecting on historical sacrifices, the Chief Minister recounted the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh’s sons, known as the Sahibzadas, who were executed for refusing to renounce their faith. He emphasized that their bravery continues to be a source of pride, not just for the Sikh community but for the entire nation.

Adityanath also warned against contemporary challenges, such as attempts to undermine the community’s efforts by enticing youth into drug abuse. He stressed the need for vigilance and unity, stating, “Sikhs and Hindus complement each other. We must steer clear of those who seek to create discord between us.”

The event underscored the importance of remembering and emulating the sacrifices of the Sikh Gurus and their descendants, particularly in light of current challenges faced by minority communities in the region.
