Congress MP Pramod Tiwari Criticizes BJP Over Alleged Voter Manipulation

Accusations of Electoral Misconduct Intensify Ahead of Delhi Assembly Elections

Breaking News

NEW DELHI: Congress Member of Parliament Pramod Tiwari has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of engaging in dishonest electoral practices, asserting that the BJP “cannot win elections with honesty.” Tiwari highlighted instances in Maharashtra and Haryana where the BJP allegedly manipulated voter lists to secure electoral victories.

The controversy centers on allegations by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh, who claimed that the BJP attempted to remove his wife, Anita Singh, from the voter list in the New Delhi constituency. Singh stated that the BJP submitted applications on December 24 and 26 to delete her name, suggesting a targeted effort to influence the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal also accused the BJP of conducting “Operation Lotus” in the New Delhi constituency, alleging that the party filed applications to delete 5,000 votes and add 7,500 votes within a 15-day period. Kejriwal questioned the necessity of elections if such significant alterations to the voter list were occurring.

These allegations have intensified political tensions as parties prepare for the Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for early 2025. The AAP secured 62 out of 70 seats in the 2020 assembly elections, while the BJP won eight seats.
