Delhi University Expands with Two New Campuses and Veer Savarkar College

Delhi University (DU) is embarking on a major expansion project with an investment of over Rs.600 crore to enhance its educational infrastructure and modernize facilities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stones for three key developments at DU’s campus: the Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura, Najafgarh; an academic block for the West Campus in Dwarka; and another academic block for the East Campus in Surajmal Vihar.

The expansion is part of DU’s efforts to extend its academic presence across the city by adding new campuses in the East and West. These developments aim to provide more educational opportunities for students and to bolster the university’s infrastructure.

Veer Savarkar College in Najafgarh: Located just five minutes from the West Campus, Veer Savarkar College will feature modern facilities across a built-up area of 18,816.56 square meters. With an estimated cost of Rs.140 crore, the college will have 24 classrooms, eight tutorial rooms, 40 faculty rooms, department libraries, conference rooms, and a canteen.

East Campus at Surajmal Vihar: The East Campus, spanning 15.25 acres and with an investment of Rs.373 crore, will offer courses like LLB, LLM, and an integrated five-year LLB programme, along with other multidisciplinary courses. This campus will boast state-of-the-art facilities including 60 classrooms, 10 tutorial rooms, six moot courts, computer labs, cafeterias, and common rooms, covering a built-up area of 59,618 square meters.

West Campus in Dwarka: The West Campus, being developed at a cost of Rs.107 crore, will feature an academic block with 42 classrooms, two moot courts, a digital library, seminar halls, and separate common rooms for boys and girls, across 19,434 square meters.
