With voting already completed on November 20, the final outcome will be determined after the vote count on November 23, 2024, when all 288 constituencies in Maharashtra will be decided. The results will offer a clear picture of the political landscape, with the battle between the ruling Mahayuti (BJP, Shiv Sena, NCP) and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (Congress, Shiv Sena UBT, NCP-SP) continuing to heat up.

Breaking News

As per the latest updates from the Election Commission of India (ECI), Aditya Thackeray of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) is leading in Maharashtra’s Worli constituency with a margin of 21,725 votes. Aditya Thackeray, who has held the Worli seat since 2019, now faces fierce competition from multiple contenders in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Thackeray, a key figure in the Shiv Sena faction, is facing competition from Milind Deora, a veteran politician and former Congress leader who switched his allegiance to the Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena. Deora’s presence in the race has intensified the battle, particularly given his appeal among the affluent voters of Worli and his criticism of Thackeray’s tenure. Deora has questioned Thackeray’s opposition to key state projects, such as the Mahalaxmi Race Course and the Mumbai Metro, suggesting that delays have led to significant losses, including a Rs.14,000 crore setback from the metro project.

Another challenger in the race is Sandeep Deshpande from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), who is seeking to galvanize Marathi voters against the two Shiv Sena factions. Deshpande’s entry into the fray has added another layer of complexity to an already competitive constituency.

In a statement to ANI, Aditya Thackeray vowed to address unemployment and state development, accusing BJP and Mahayuti of failure. His environmental and tourism policies, like the plastic ban and Aarey forest protection, have earned voter goodwill.

Voting concluded on November 20, with final results expected on November 23, determining the political landscape for all 288 Maharashtra constituencies.
