New Delhi (India-UAE relations): During his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on September 18-19, 2025, the Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, spearheaded a series of high-impact meetings aimed at strengthening bilateral trade, deepening investment ties, and exploring new avenues for cooperation between India and the UAE. Progress on flagship projects like Bharat Mart and the India-UAE Friendship Hospital were highlighted for their role in boosting trade and supporting the Indian diaspora in the UAE.

Both ministers encouraged business communities to expand their horizons beyond the two countries to regions such as Africa, Europe, and Central Asia, further broadening trade and investment footprints.

An interactive session coordinated by Mr. Nilesh Ved, Chairman of the Apparel Group, showcased the investment potential in India for UAE companies eager to scale their regional and global operations. Shri Goyal outlined India’s macroeconomic growth, infrastructure advancements, and social inclusion policies, inviting UAE businesses to tap into these growth drivers aligned with India’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’.

UAE investors shared feedback on improving the business environment, including suggestions on market access, regulatory frameworks, arbitration, and dispute resolution. Shri Goyal reiterated India’s commitment to transparent and facilitative policies to bolster investor confidence, underwriting the country’s positioning as a preferred global investment destination with robust GDP growth and inflation control.

Focused bilateral talks were held with notable UAE business figures including Ms. Hana Al Rostamani, CEO of First Abu Dhabi Bank, Mr. Irfan Allana from IFFCO Group, and Mr. Sharafuddin Sharaf from Sharaf Group. These engagements emphasized deepening financial and business cooperation and charting pathways for UAE firms to enhance their footprint in India.

Minister Goyal also met with representatives of the India People’s Forum, underscoring the Indian diaspora’s vital role in fostering enduring cultural and economic relationships.
