AirPod users might soon get a powerful new tool live in-person translation. Early clues in Apple’s iOS 26 developer beta suggest that AirPods will soon be able to translate real-world conversations in real time, making them even more useful for travelers, students, and professionals working across languages.

The new discovery comes from hidden system assets in iOS 26 beta 6, which include an image showing text in multiple languages, such as English, Portuguese, French, and German. This image is tied to the Translate app and appears to be designed for the AirPods Pro 2 and the upcoming AirPods 4. The gesture to trigger this feature reportedly involves pressing both AirPod stems at the same time, instantly starting a translation session.

AirPod Translation Feature Extends Apple’s Existing Tools
