Actor and racer Ajith Kumar recently found himself in another accident during a practice run ahead of the Portugal race in Estoril. Despite the severity of the crash, he managed to walk away unhurt, thanks to the quick work of his team, who swiftly repaired his car in time for the race’s qualifying round.
In a video shared by one of Ajith’s fan pages on YouTube, the actor spoke candidly about the accident while preparing for the race. Reflecting on his return to the racing circuit, he expressed his excitement to be back in the car, racing on the technical Estoril track. “It feels great to be racing here in Estoril on the track. It’s very surreal to be sitting in the car on the circuit. It’s a proud moment, actually. It’s a very technical circuit; I’m glad my timing is getting better. It’s been a good weekend so far,” he said.
However, Ajith was quick to reveal that his weekend took a turn when he crashed his car during the practice session. “Of course, this morning, it was disastrous in practice when I crashed. I had a bad crash. Thanks to my team, they put the car together and had to go straight for the qualifying. A nerve-wracking moment for me, you know,” he shared.
Despite the crash, Ajith expressed gratitude for the support he has received from his fans, especially those who have started following motorsport because of his involvement. “I am so happy that they started to follow this sport that I love so much. I’m extremely grateful not just to the fans but to everybody back home who have been following me and wanting to know what I’m up to. I give my thanks to all of them,” he added.
This crash marks the second time in recent months that Ajith has narrowly avoided injury during a practice run. Just a month ago, Ajith crashed in Dubai while preparing for the 24H Dubai race. His car collided with a barrier, but he remained unharmed and continued his practice in a replacement vehicle. His team later confirmed that the security personnel on-site responded swiftly to the incident.
Ajith, known for balancing his passion for motorsports with his acting career, has previously mentioned that he will only shoot for films during the non-racing seasons. He was last seen in Vidaamuyarchi and will soon appear in Good Bad Ugly.
Though accidents are part of motorsports, Ajith’s resilience and dedication to both his acting and racing careers continue to inspire his fans.
