Released today, the song brings together the vocal talents of both Akshay and Palash, celebrating the spirit of Lord Shiva in a powerful and melodious duet.
In an interview, Palash Sen shared details about how the collaboration came to life. “When composer Vikram Montrose approached me for the song, I started recording some parts at my studio in Delhi, then traveled to Mumbai to finalize the track,” Palash explained. “It’s a duet, featuring both Akshay and me, and it was a wonderful experience working on it.”
Palash expressed his admiration for Akshay, calling him “a true musician at heart.” Despite his immense fame and superstardom, Akshay remained grounded throughout the process. Palash revealed, “When we arrived on set, Akshay already knew the entire song by heart, while I was still trying to memorize the lyrics. He kept saying he wasn’t a singer, but I must admit, he’s a naturally gifted one.” Palash also shared how Akshay’s professionalism and humility impressed him, saying that the actor was respectful and down-to-earth throughout the entire experience.
The collaboration between the two is even more remarkable because of their different backgrounds in the music industry. While Palash Sen comes from the indie music space, Akshay, as a Bollywood megastar, is more associated with mainstream commercial projects. Palash admitted, “Bollywood usually stays away from me, but I’m glad Akshay thought of me for this project. There was no bias against me because I come from the indie music scene. Akshay is open to experimenting with new music, and he knew exactly how to go about it.”
The music video for Mahakal Chalo also includes choreographer Ganesh Acharya, who brought his expertise to the project. The video features both Akshay and Palash performing together, standing behind the mic and bonding over the soulful lyrics dedicated to Mahadev, the revered deity of Hinduism.
