Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sky Force’ Soars with Over Rs.10 Crore Opening Day Box Office Collection

The much-anticipated action drama Sky Force, directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani, made a strong impact on its opening day at the box office. Released just ahead of the Republic Day weekend, the film earned a solid ₹10.75 crore net in India on its first day, according to Sacnilk’s box office estimates.

The film, which features Akshay Kumar, debutant Veer Pahariya, Sara Ali Khan, and Nimrat Kaur in leading roles, received a warm reception from audiences. The movie’s 2D version recorded an occupancy rate of 10.26% in the morning shows, 14.12% during the afternoon, and 22.76% in the evening shows. The IMAX 2D version of the film also performed well, with an overall occupancy rate of 14.82%.

Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik produced Sky Force under Maddock Films, with Jyoti Deshpande from Jio Studios also involved. The film sets its story against the backdrop of India’s daring attack on Pakistan’s Sargodha airbase during the 1965 Indo-Pakistani War.

The action-packed drama showcases the bravery and sacrifices of the Indian Air Force and is based on a real-life historical event. The film was officially announced in 2023 and wrapped up production by 2024.

Veer Pahariya, who makes his acting debut with this film, spoke passionately about the story and his character, which is based on the late Squadron Leader Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya. He explained that Sky Force is not just a war film, but a deeply human story that delves into themes of family, brotherhood, friendship, and loyalty. Pahariya urged audiences to watch the film to experience the emotional depth of the narrative.

Veteran actor Akshay Kumar also shared his thoughts on playing patriotic roles, a genre that has been a significant part of his career. In an interview with HT City, he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to portray such characters. “I’m so lucky that I get a chance to play so many characters. God has been so kind, I got to play Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva… What else can I ask for?” Kumar said, emphasizing that he’s proud to take on roles that celebrate the country’s history and heroes. When questioned about his frequent appearances in patriotic films, Kumar responded with confidence, saying, “If I’m getting such a lovely opportunity, why should I miss it?”

The opening-day success of Sky Force has raised expectations for its performance during the rest of the Republic Day weekend. With a compelling storyline and a strong cast, the film is poised to capture the attention of both action and history enthusiasts.
