LONDON: Ali Farooqui, the youngest son of former Maharashtra minister Kamaal Farooqui, has achieved a significant milestone by being elected as the President of the Liberal Arts Council at one of Europe’s most prestigious private universities in London. His victory, with a resounding 74% majority, reflects his popularity and the effectiveness of his campaign, which prioritized inclusivity, justice, and student development.
The Liberal Arts Council represents students across diverse disciplines, including International Relations, Psychology, Media & Communications, and Art History. This department is vital in fostering academic collaboration and student advocacy within the university, which is widely recognized for producing global leaders in business, politics, arts, and journalism.
Ali’s leadership campaign stood out for its commitment to addressing student needs and enhancing their experience on campus. By leveraging his deep understanding of political strategy, gained through his father’s and elder brother’s influence, Ali crafted a compelling manifesto that resonated with his peers. Speaking after his victory, he stated, “I am proud to have been elected as the President of my university’s student council. I am committed to fulfilling all the objectives outlined in my manifesto and will strive to enhance the student experience to the best of my ability. I aim to lead with justice, progressiveness, and wisdom to provide a successful experience for the students who voted for me.”
Interestingly, despite his familial political legacy, Ali does not plan to enter mainstream politics. Instead, he aims to focus on societal impact through cultural preservation and youth engagement initiatives in his hometown, Aurangabad. He has expressed interest in joining a non-profit organization dedicated to conserving heritage sites and promoting arts in the region. Furthermore, he envisions launching developmental programs for Maharashtra’s youth, demonstrating a unique blend of leadership and community focus.
Ali’s achievements mark him as a rising leader on the global stage. His success not only highlights the potential of Indian youth in international forums but also inspires others to engage in meaningful, transformative leadership.
