Telugu cinema superstar Allu Arjun has urged his fans to maintain decorum and avoid abusive behavior, both online and offline. This comes after a tragic incident on December 4, 2024, at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre, where a stampede during the premiere of his film “Pushpa 2: The Rule” led to the death of a 35-year-old woman and injuries to her 8-year-old son.
The incident occurred when an unexpectedly large crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor, leading to a collapse of the theater’s main gate. Allu Arjun took to social media, stating, “I appeal to all my fans to express their feelings responsibly and refrain from abusive language or behavior.” He also warned that strict action would be taken against individuals using fake profiles to spread abusive posts.
In the aftermath, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy alleged that Arjun attended the premiere without police permission, a claim the actor denied. Expressing condolences, Arjun announced financial assistance for the victim’s family and committed to covering the child’s medical expenses.
Following the incident, the Hyderabad City Police charged Allu Arjun and the theater management with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. They cited their failure to inform authorities about the actor’s visit, which led to inadequate crowd control. Although initially remanded to judicial custody, Arjun was granted bail shortly thereafter.
This unfortunate event has sparked discussions on improving crowd management and safety measures at public events, emphasizing the need to prevent such tragedies in the future.
