Tollywood icon Allu Arjun has extended his heartfelt thanks to the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments for approving a special hike in ticket prices for his upcoming movie, Pushpa 2: The Rule. This decision, granted through official government orders, allows for higher ticket rates during the initial four-day release period, aimed at maximizing the movie’s opening collections and supporting the industry.
Taking to social media, Allu Arjun praised the governments for their “progressive approach” toward bolstering the Telugu film industry. The actor is set to reprise his role as Pushpa Raj, a laborer-turned-sandalwood smuggler, in the much-anticipated sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise.
Reports indicate that ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana could reach up to ₹600 for premium screenings, the highest ever for a Telugu film. This strategic move aims to capitalize on the massive fan following and unprecedented hype surrounding the film. The producers, Mythri Movie Makers, plan to release the movie across more than 800 theaters in both states, with additional shows to accommodate the demand.
Despite the excitement, some industry experts express concerns over the sustainability of such pricing strategies, highlighting the potential impact on middle-class audiences and the increasing reliance on OTT platforms for more affordable viewing options.
As the December release date approaches, Pushpa 2 aims to set new benchmarks in Indian cinema while testing the crowd-pulling prowess of Allu Arjun against his contemporaries.
